Klekane Inlet Hot Springs

Klekane Inlet Hot Springs, located along the serene Princess Royal Channel in British Columbia, is a hidden gem that blends rugged wilderness with a touch of rustic comfort. Nestled deep within a conservancy park and accessible only by boat or floatplane, this remote hot spring is a unique destination for those seeking solitude and a truly immersive nature experience.

The springs feature odorless geothermal water that emerges from the earth at a steamy 53.2°C (127.8°F) at the source. This hot water is channeled into a concrete block pool situated inside a traditional cedar bathhouse, where it cools to a more comfortable 41.3°C (106.3°F). The bathhouse itself is a charming, weathered structure that offers a peaceful place to soak while being surrounded by the misty temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia.

Unfortunately, due to a recent landslide in the area, the bathhouse is currently closed to visitors. While this limits direct access to the soaking facilities, the natural hot spring source remains of ecological interest, and the surrounding area continues to attract adventurers, kayakers, and boaters eager to experience the untouched beauty of the coast. The closure highlights the fragile balance between human use and natural forces in these remote locations.

Klekane Inlet is not just about hot water—it’s also about the journey and the setting. With no roads or trails leading in, every visit requires forethought, planning, and a willingness to go off-grid. In return, visitors are rewarded with a serene coastal landscape dotted with old-growth forests, thriving marine life, and the occasional sighting of eagles or bears along the shoreline.

Whether you come for the springs, the scenery, or the solitude, Klekane Inlet Hot Springs offers a memorable and tranquil wilderness escape. As conservation efforts continue and natural conditions evolve, this hot spring remains a testament to the enduring power and allure of British Columbia’s coastal wilderness.
